Accordion tailored test system

A test system tailored to your product line

We adapt the Accordion platform to your products — your communication protocols, your connectors, even a dedicated management bus shared across a whole product line. Use it as the hardware platform that drives your verification and production test, or drive it straight from your own software through its API for programmatic hardware control. We deliver the platform that fits your products; you build the tests, stations or integrations on top.

What we tailor

Standard where it can be, custom where it counts

We start from the proven Accordion platform and configure it from the module library — then build whatever your products need that isn’t on the shelf.

Connections & buses

The Accordion top plate is tailored to your product — the physical connectors and the communication interfaces. CAN, LIN, UART, SPI, I²C, Ethernet, or a dedicated management bus you run across an entire product line: we build it in, so one interface fits your whole range.

Custom modules

Pick from the existing library — mixed-signal I/O, programmable power, active loads, communication — or we develop a new module for your application. Four I/O slots and two power/load slots per base unit.

Expand units

Scale with up to four Expand units for extra modules, power or custom electronics — a clean way to grow the system without growing the clutter on the bench.

Software & control

Author and run your tests in Maestro, or in your own code via Control Accordion (Python, C#, TestStand, LabVIEW, REST). The Pilot GUI is there for hands-on channel work — no code needed.

What this is — and isn’t

We build the platform. You build the test on it.

This service delivers the hardware platform that drives your test stations — a tailored Accordion system with the interfaces, modules and power your products need. It does not include the test stations, the test adapters, or the test sequences: you develop those, on a foundation that already fits your products.

Want us to develop the whole test instead — stations, adapters and sequences, from strategy to production? That’s functional test development.

Built on Accordion

One chassis instead of a rack

At the core is the Accordion Agent — one modular controller for measurement, stimuli, programmable power and bus communication, all behind a single API. A tailored system collapses a bench full of separate instruments into one box:

  • DAQ cards (analog + digital I/O)
  • One or two programmable PSUs
  • Active loads
  • I²C / SPI / UART dongles
  • JTAG probe
  • Dedicated PoE test equipment

Same chassis, same API, the same code from design verification to the production line. See the Accordion platform.

Not only test

A platform you drive from your own systems

Because every Accordion function is exposed through one API, a tailored system isn’t limited to the test bench. Teams integrate it into their own software to control hardware programmatically — measurement, power, current, switching — wherever repeatable, software-driven control matters.

Test platforms

The hardware platform that drives your verification, functional and production test stations — tailored to your products, with tests authored in Maestro or your own code.

Programmatic control

Integrate Accordion into your own systems through the API and control hardware directly. For a camera manufacturer we built an Accordion-based system — rolled out to 100+ units — that programmatically sets drive current for collimators and light tables, driven straight from the customer’s own software.

How we work

From your product line to a platform that fits it

1
Scope

We map your products, interfaces and bench — the protocols, connectors and measurements the platform has to cover.

2
Configure

We assemble as much as possible from the standard Accordion module library — proven, off the shelf.

3
Build the custom

Custom connectors, a management bus, bespoke modules or Expand units — whatever your products need that isn’t standard.

4
Hand over

Delivered with the control tools — Pilot, Python, .NET, REST — so your team can author and run its own tests.

5
Support

Long-term support, a clear upgrade path, and more modules or Expand units as your product line grows.

Built on Accordion

“Our ambition with Accordion: a test system with everything you need — no awkward drivers, no dependencies, the same code and the same interface for everything. An engineer’s best friend, simply put.”
— Daniel Rhodin, founder of E-Sharp and tech lead for Accordion

For Axis Communications, we tailored an Accordion system around a custom PoE M.2 module that replaces the external PoE injectors in their test bench — part of a five-year cooperation. Read the Axis story.

When this fits

Honest scoping

A good fit when you…

  • Want to own your test development but need a hardware platform tailored to your products to build it on.
  • Have product-specific interfaces — a dedicated management bus, custom connectors — you want built into one platform across a product line.
  • Need custom modules, connectors or Expand units beyond the standard Accordion A2 configurations.
  • Want one chassis controlled from Python, C#, a GUI or REST instead of a rack of separate instruments.
  • Want to control hardware programmatically from your own software — measurement, power, current, switching — through one API.

Not the right fit if you…

Frequently asked

Questions we get early

What exactly do you deliver?

The tailored Accordion platform — the chassis, the connectors and communication buses adapted to your products, the modules and power you need, and the control tools (Pilot, Python, .NET, REST). You get the hardware platform that drives your test stations. The stations themselves, the test adapters and the test sequences are yours to develop.

Can you build in our own communication protocol or management bus?

Yes — that’s the point of the service. The Accordion top plate is tailored to your products, so a protocol or a dedicated management bus you use across a whole product line can be built into one clean interface, instead of a pile of adapters on the bench.

How is this different from buying a standard Accordion?

A standard Accordion A2 is a catalog configuration from the module library. The tailored service is for when that isn’t enough — custom connectors, protocols, modules or Expand units built to fit your product line, delivered as one turnkey platform.

Do you develop our test sequences?

No — you do, in Maestro or your own code via Control Accordion (Python, C#, TestStand, LabVIEW, REST). If you’d rather we develop the whole test — stations, adapters and sequences — that’s functional test development.
