Harmonix bed-of-nails test fixture

A bed-of-nails test fixture in three sizes — built on Ingun, with the instruments built in and a top plate contacting your board through a bed of nails or connectors.

What it is

Bed-of-nails contacting, instruments inside

Harmonix is a bed-of-nails test fixture built on Ingun fixturing and configured for the Accordion test ecosystem. It comes in three sizes — Compact, Space and Grande — with the instruments and a controller built in, and a custom top plate that contacts your board through a bed of nails or connectors.

Harmonix presses your board onto a bed of nails through a lid that moves in parallel, so contact is even across the board and repeatable unit after unit. Built on Ingun fixturing, it uses proven mechanics for the actuation and probes, in a Harmonix configuration — with the instruments and a PC inside, so each fixture is a self-contained station.

  • Type — bed-of-nails fixture (ICT / functional)
  • Base — Ingun fixturing, Harmonix configuration
  • Sizes — Compact · Space · Grande
  • Contacting — bed of nails or connectors
  • Actuation — lid with parallel movement
  • Instruments — Accordion built in, plus an on-board PC
  • Interfaces — USB, network and HDMI
  • Top plate — custom, designed to your DUT

Three sizes

One fixture family, three sizes

Compact, Space and Grande let a product range standardise on one fixture family — differing in footprint and in how much room they leave for the instruments inside — instead of a different jig per board.

Compact

The smallest — a compact footprint for smaller boards.

Space

The same footprint as Grande, but lower — for stations that don’t need as much room for instruments inside the fixture.

Grande

The largest — full height, with the most room for built-in instruments.

How it works

Even, repeatable contact

Harmonix presses the board onto the bed of nails through a lid that moves in parallel, so contact is even across the board and consistent unit after unit. Contacting through a bed of nails suits higher pin counts and repeatable, higher-volume production test. When the DUT changes often or a bed of nails isn’t needed, Octave is the parametric alternative.

We design and build the full DUT-specific adaptation under one roof — the top plate to your DUT geometry, the bed-of-nails board, and pogo-pin / test adapters per interface.

Inside the fixture

Built on Accordion, orchestrated by Maestro

The instrument layer inside Harmonix is Accordion: one chassis replaces five to eight separate instruments — DMM, programmable PSU, active load, DAQ, PoE, bus master — driven from a single API in Python, C# or TestStand. The same test code runs from design verification through NPI to production, orchestrated by Maestro.

So the fixture is a complete test node — not a bare bed-of-nails jig you still have to wire to a rack.

Where it fits

Typical use

Production test

Functional and in-circuit test on the line, repeatable unit after unit.

High pin count

Boards that need a bed of nails to reach the test points.

Higher volume

Repeatable contacting where cycle time and consistency matter.

A product range

Standardise on one fixture family across boards with Compact / Space / Grande.

Instruments built in

A self-contained station — Accordion and a PC inside the fixture, one API.

Custom contacting

Top plate, bed-of-nails board and adapters designed and built to your DUT under one roof.

Harmonix is configured to your DUT and delivered as part of an E-Sharp functional-test / NPI engagement.

Delivered within our engagement

Harmonix comes as part of functional test development

We don’t sell Harmonix on its own — it’s the fixture layer of a complete test system we design and build for your product, from contacting to instruments to analysis-ready data. See how the engagement works.
